This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Teachers can inspire confidence, be flexible and change roles according to the activity and situation called for by making eye contact, using gestures and controlling their voices with greater variation for greater effectiveness. Classroom arrangements can vary from orderly rows, circles/horseshoes or separate tables depending on space, chairs and tables available, but also the age, nationality and personalities of the students. Teaching groups can vary from whole class, students on their own, pair-work and group-work. Discipline factors are age, motivation, class size, atmosphere and respect, which can be prevented by immediate personal response and focusing on the behavior and not the student. Attention is kept by using simple language, being confident, using lots of visual aids and clues and checking instructions clearly by building rapport with being positive, being personal and teaching with a smile.
