This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 12 presented the two productive skills, which are speaking and writing. Both of these skills are critical in the process of learning a new language. Speaking tends to be a little easier than writing, because it focuses more on fluency than accuracy. The concepts of Fluency and Accuracy and how they relate to the process of teaching a new language was also discussed in the unit. Accuracy focuses on correct use of grammar and vocabulary and it takes place in a more controlled environment. The teacher is the one that guides the activity. Fluency, on the other hand, is controlled by the students who can speak without interruption. There are several guidelines discussed in this unit about how to promote creative speaking activities. As far as the skill of writing, it discussed the importance of handwriting, spelling, layout and punctuation and the imporant role that games play in the classroom.
