The receptive skills were reading and listening. The productive skills are speaking and writing. As reading and listening are equally important, speaking and writing are also equally important. To teach these skills, there are accuracy and fluency activities. Accuracy activities are used to ensure that students are correct in their speaking and writing. Fluency activities are used to get students using the language. It matters less if they are accurate, and more that they are experimenting with the language. Regardless, it is important to engage the students and make sure they have enough time and are comfortable speaking and writing in front of the class.
