Teachers can use course books and create material that is interesting, more relevant and a welcome change to the student books, workbooks, cassettes, teacher?s books, videos and other published materials. Authentic materials are anything a native speaker would hear or read, i.e. programs, magazines, newspapers, songs, poems, brochures, menus, films, etc. These materials are real causing the students to gain confidence in understanding them and they can be geared to the interests of a particular group of students. Created materials such as crosswords, word search puzzles, role-play cards, flashcards, gap-fill activities and picture stories can be graded to the level of the students and designed by the teacher to replace or supplement materials from the course books. All course books and lesson materials has advantages and disadvantages, but the teacher has the choice to choose the most suitable, plan with items to best motivate and meet the students needs by trying new ideas and using various activities.
