I have been teaching ESL as a volunteer for one and a half years and this unit was excellent as it gave me more ideas from which to engage my current students at Esperanza. Unit 3 also gave me a solid foundation of how a typical lesson should or could go. I have utilized many of the techniques/activities outlined in the unit but in a more haphazard way, such as flashcards or gap fill or role playing. I now have a better understanding of how a class should flow and will immediately experiment with it at my next class on Tuesday. I will definitely do more engaging at the beginning of class than I have done previously.
