In this Unit, two different lessons are taught by the same instructor. The first, is an example of a poorly presented lesson in grammar to ESL students. During the lesson the instructor does not build rapport with the students and doesn't bother to learn their names. He also delivers the lesson without smiling throughout the entire lesson. He begins the lesson speaking quickly and talking about grammar concepts that are beyond the students understanding. It is clear that the students are confused but too intimidated to participate.
In the second lesson, the instructor delivers the same lesson but corrects his mistakes from the first lesson. He gains the student's trust and confidence by smiling, learning names and engaging everyone in the classroom. He introduces the material in a fun and interactive way. The students respond to questions and actively participate throughout the lesson.
