Unit 18 on Modals, Phrasal Verbs and Passive Voice covered the basic form, rules, and examples of model auxiliary verbs, passive voice, relative clauses, and phrasal verbs. The most difficult portion of this unit to me was trying to identify how to communicate to students how to use phrasal verbs. The suggestion at the end of the unit to focus on teaching phrasal verbs as vocabulary items stood out as a good option as phrasal verbs can be seen as ?figure of speeches?. To a non-native speaker, it may be not as evident the logistics behind using phrasal verbs. The task sheets at the end of the unit are very helpful for lesson planning and can even be used as part of the lesson plan for a class.
