This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit I learned how to create effective lesson plans using the TESOL methodology of ESA (engage, study, activate) in the structure.
ESL teachers must plan their lessons (even to a vague degree) because without this plan it is likely that a lesson will falter or hit problems. Even experienced teachers, including myself, will almost always have a lesson plan as a \"back-up\" in case one or more elements of the lesson are not succesfull.
An effective lesson plan should cover likely eventualities such as lack of equipment, or unexpected students showing up, and include alternative activities/games/excercises in order to ensure a smooth and succesful lesson.
