This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit discusses the factors involved in teaching and presenting a new language, vocabulary, grammar and function, in addition to specific techniques for presenting and practicing language structures. It uses the ESA templates of the patchwork, boomerang, and straight arrow lesson plan to effectively illustrate how new language structure, vocabulary, as well as previously known past and present grammatical forms and tenses can be taught to all class levels.
I have definitely learned much from this unit, specifically, how crucial it is to understand the factors that affect levels of difficulty for learning in students, and how the language level of the student can decide whether the teacher should use more visual cues in her/his engage stage of teaching. Moreover, I have learned the importance of teaching them when they are young and very motivated to learn new vocabulary items. I have also learned how to create lesson plans suitable for specific language levels.
