This was a very insightful unit. It gave me information about things I never really thought about as I have never taught a class before. Every successful class I have participated in included a textbook of some sort. Some classes in which the teacher didn't rely on the textbook I recall as hectic. Therefore, I personally never thought of teaching a class without a textbook. I simply feel it would be more structured. However, the idea of creating my own teaching material and including suitable authentic material seems appealing. This unit was a great overview of options for teachers. It was also a good food for thought.
