This unit explained how to avoid some of the potential problems that may arise when teaching English to non-native English speakers. The unit emphasized the importance of a good first impression during the first lesson by establishing rapport with the students, using ice-breaker games, using activities, and getting to know the students. The unit also mentioned some techniques when dealing with classes with different levels, large classes, native language in the classroom, introverted students, and listening exercises. In conclusion, I now have a better understanding on how to conduct a first lesson and how to avoid issues that may arise in subsequent lessons.
