This unit looks at the teaching of phonology and pronunciation of the English language. Phonology looks specifically at how individual sounds are produced, and studying it is therefore important in helping students with reproducing English words correctly. Studying phonetics can help pronunciation because it breaks down words into individual sounds, and shows students how to position their mouths to produce the correct sounds. I found this unit very interesting, especially looking at the place of articulation and thinking about where sounds originate from. Learning about this, and studying the material for this unit has given me more ideas of how to teach pronunciation.
