This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The final unit dealt with troubleshooting and though short, helped a lot.
We repeated what is important when it comes to meeting your class for the first time and warmers.
I learned about how to deal with different levels, a problem I have to face on a daily basis.
Other topics were:
large classes
use of native language
reluctant students
and difficulties with listening comprehension.
Some classes tell me that they have problems with listening comprehension, especially with different accents. So I like to work with them on that. I base classes on sound files and videos found online, so students practice with authentic speakers form various countries. In Business English classes I ask students upfront which accents there are dealing with the most.
