Unit 4 teaches the differences between authentic and non-authentic materials, key points to consider when creating non-authentic materials, and the reasoning behind why it's important to have a lesson plan. I learned how to create more effective non-authentic materials by considering a few specific questions prior to starting the design. The teacher can't only focus on the language point of the lesson when designing the materials. They have to think about organization of the students, how to demonstrate the material, and making sure the students understand the directions by asking them questions. These factors need to be considered in order for an effective lesson.
