Unit 3 introduces a variety of teaching methodologies with a focus on the ESA approach. Where many methods are valid and have their place among different skill levels and types of students, the Engage Study and Activate formula is primary to this lesson and widely accepted as being effective in teaching English. For each phase, a variety of suggestions are made, many of which I suspect will be of great use in the future. I found myself brainstorming on the spot as I read through the unit, contributing my own ideas through the process (scavenger hunts, role-playing a newsroom, students creating relevant comic strips). To complete the lesson, advice on how and when to correct students is explored.
