It is important to try and cover the four basic skills in your lesson. This would include the receptive skills being reading and listening, and the productive skills, speaking and writing. At times, you may find that choosing one skill over the other in a particular lesson is more suitable. The absolute most important thing when creating your lesson plan is making sure that you set up each activity appropriately so that the students are introduced to the topic and they understand what is expected of them in the activity. That would require the effective use of each stage: engage, study, and activate.
