I was able to observe significant difference in the effectiveness of the instructor by watching these videos side by side. In the first video, the teacher acts surprised by what the students don't know, and he says the subject matter is \"easy\" enough, and almost seems to perceive the students as silly for not knowing the material already. He spends a lot of time facing the white board and never really engages with the class. In the 2nd video, the teacher is a lot friendlier, and engages with the students from the very start. He encourages class participation and makes it fun. He reviews their existing knowledge, to boost confidence, and then builds on it by adding the concept of auxiliary verbs.
