This unit talked about writing and speaking, and how both are equally important, however, sometimes teaching how to write and providing opportunities to practice this skill are often overlooked. Writing in English is hard because of all of the rules and exceptions to rules, and the differences between American English and British English, as well as the fact that a lot of words may sound the same but are spelt differently, or spelt the same but read differently. The best way to help students understand all of this is to get them reading and writing as much as possible, to get enough exposure to it. Same as with speaking. The unit also looked at the differences between accuracy and fluency, again, how both are equally as important to teach and make sure the students get enough practice with.
