In this unit, I leaned more about Modal Auxiliary Verbs, including : can, could, may, might, shall, should, will, must, have to, need to and so on.
They all can be used to express a lot of different ideas.
\"Should, Must and Have to \"are usually used to express Obligation, \"Could, May and Would\" are usually used to express Request. \"Could and Would \"can be used to express formal polite request. \"Must \" can be used to express the greatest degree of certainty.
Actually, Modal Auxiliary Verbs are not rather difficult to use for students , because it's easy to follow and remember the rules. However, if students want to express their ideas exactly, they have to know the differences between each items clearly.
Except the Modal Auxiliary Verbs, Passive voice is one of the most important grammar part in learning English, because there are quite different rules between English and Chinese about Passive Voice. In Chinese, there is no stable sentence structure to express the passive voice, so listener has to judge the meaning of the sentence by the relationship between subject and object. But in English, the sentence structures are already given, we have to follow the sentence structure to express the kind of meaning, so remember the rules are most important for this part.
So teacher can use more gap-filling exercises to practice so that they can remember them by heart.
