The final unit of the course went over a few different obstacles that may be encountered when teaching English. First lessons can be awkward, but building rapport between the students and between the students and yourself helps set the class off to a good start. When a class starts, do something fun and engaging like playing a game to get them involved. If the students are starting to land on different levels, try pairing them up, pairing the weak with the strong. Encourage English speaking as much as possible. Try to draw out those that have a hard time participating. Finally do not be intimidated by listening tasks. Plan for difficult vocabulary and pre-drill the class.
