This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
All of the content in this Unit was new to me and it was very interesting to learn about the different theories, methods and techniques. I can reflect upon my own experiences with language learning as a student and the effectiveness of some of these methods over others, particularly how I recall almost nothing from classes where audio-lingualism was the primary mode employed. Comparatively, the ESA method makes much more sense, and I can think of examples in my own learning where that was very effective. The wealth of examples of activities for each phase seem like they can be easily tailored depending upon the teacher?s preferences and the appropriateness/needs for the students. For example, in a one-on-one situation, the teacher would obviously participate in any role-plyaing or conversational activities with the student, which would require careful attention to resist too much correction.
