This unit discussed the importance of teaching receptive skills to your students and helping them to become fully engaged with the material. Reading and listening are both extremely important skills for a language student because without an ability to do well in both areas, the students are less likely to fully grasp the language. Students must be able to listen intently and become engaged in their reading material for them to fully absorb the meaning. I learned that it is important for the students to be interested in the material they read as well as engaged while listening so that they can retain what they hear and read for later use.
