Apart from focusing on which teaching method we should adapt or employ to suit our students' needs and abilities, it is also important to think of creative and interesting use of language in teaching writing. I personally find that the use of idioms and proverbs very useful as they are short and easy to remember. Moreover, there is always a lesson to be learnt behind each idioms or proverbs. Teachers can make good use of them in teaching writing and encourage students to use them as often. Less capable students will find it especially beneficial to use idioms/proverbs due to the fact that they simply help write out what's in their mind easier. One simple phrase can save up time in writing a bunch of trivial words which doesn't convey messages effectively.
