This unit is about pronunciation and phonology. Phonology is the classification and analysis of physical sounds in the language which create a rule set and an alphabet to follow that helps with understanding English pronunciation. Stress and intonation are used in pronunciation to put emphasis on some parts in the sentences which will give different or more meaning to what is said. Its important for students to learn this as they will be able to learn more from their text books, dictionaries and teacher if the teacher is also familiar with it, as well as pronunciation which has a big effect on communication and if people understand what is said or not. Teaching phonology and pronunciation can be done throughout the whole class, in small parts throughout several classes or just in the moments where it is required.
