This unit has provided very valuable information for me in my roles of a TESOL instructor and student earning a TESOL certification. Knowing the focus of the various methodologies, I can now analyze the pros and cons of each, and reflect upon my own teaching. For example, I typically follow the PPP methodology, however, I had not realized that this particular approach can become too teacher-centered prior to reading this unit. The ESA lesson format is a tremendous helpful blueprint in structuring my lessons. The format is straightforward and flexible at the same time. The many different ideas for each stage of the ESA lesson have expanded my repertoire of lesson ideas at different points of lessons. The information on giving feedback has sharpened my awareness on my role as a teacher in giving feedback - more isn't always the best and the timing in giving feedback is important. The most important take-away for me from this unit is \"give students opportunities to discover language for themselves\". How do I, as a teacher, structure a lesson in the ESA format and give appropriate and constructive feedback to foster and give opportunities for students to discover language for themselves?
