This unit discusses teaching the vocabulary, grammar, and functions of new language. What vocabulary you teach can be difficult to select, but you should consider the appropriacy to the students and task, frequency and coverage, and teachability of the vocabulary when making the selection. Students need to know the meaning, use, word grammar, interaction, spelling, and pronunciation of the new vocabulary words. The final area visited in this unit is introducing grammatical structures. It?s important to keep in mind that students need to know meaning, use, forms, patterns, and both the spoken and written form of the grammatical structures being taught. Both sections give examples of different activities that could be useful in each stage of ESA lessons along with an example lesson. This unit was helpful in breaking down this part of teaching. It?s important to know the different areas to be aware of when selecting what to teach, building a lesson plan, and successfully carrying out teaching grammar and vocabulary.
