This unit gave good insight into teaching vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions. When selecting what vocabulary to learn, consider what words might be appropriate for the level of the students and the content of the lesson and the frequency of the usage. There are many fun ways to engage the students and to teach them new vocabulary words, but it is important that they learn the proper meaning, usage, grammar, spelling, and pronunciation of the word. When teaching grammatical structures, it is important to ensure that the students learn the correct forms and patterns in addition to the differences between the written and the spoken grammar forms. With language functions, it is most important for the students to learn the appropriate usage and situations for each of the functions. The different teaching lesson types may be considered for the material in this unit, as some phases may be more effective than others; such as, using a patchwork lesson and utilizing more activate phases when teaching language functions.
