I learnt much in this lesson, especially about the different skills involved in the process of reading and listening. Learners need to be able to predict what the content will be by reading a title or a headline, to scan a text to find a specific information, to skim it to get the global idea of it, to concentrate fully in order to get the full detailed information provided in the text and to deduct the meaning from the context. To help the students to practise those skills and to focus during receptive skills based lessons, the teacher must be aware of the knowledge of his students and if needed pre-teach essential and difficult vocabulary and structures that they will need to understand during the study phase. The texts must be selected carefully, adapted to the students' level and the topics chosen should match the students' interests as much as possible. The teacher is here to motivate and create interest amongst his students and he must provide interesting comprehension tasks for the student's to practise what has been learnt.
