This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 2 discusses teaching methodologies, theories and techniques. There are number of approaches, methods and theories of teaching; however, there is no clear claim which one is best and most effective among them all. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages and its usage and effectiveness widely depends on varying factors. Thus, the teachers can choose and employ variety of methods suited for their learners. They can make use any of them depending on their target and as long as they're able to achieve their objectives. But one of the methods which I personally find effective is the Engage, Study, Activate (ESA) by Jeremy Harmer that is largely discussed in this unit. This approach allows students to explore more, be exposed and engaged to the language; then, analyze and examine it thoroughly through the study stage, and finally be able to use the language freely and communicatively. This will help them be fluent and accurate in using the language. Further, the discussion about correction reminds me when correction should be made.
