This unit reviews the types of equipment and teachings aids that can be used in the classroom. The types of equipment used may depend on what is made available to the teacher. For example, some schools may only have a whiteboard or a chalkboard and a computer handy for the teacher to use while others may have greater technological advancements. One of the new advancements that continues to spread through classrooms in modern day society is the use of interactive whiteboards, which are also known as smartboards. This type of technology was actually introduced to my school while I was in middle school and became more apparent as I progressed through high school. By the time I became a college student and then became a tutor for the high school I attended I noticed every classroom eventually had a smartboard. Since I am already familiar with this and other means of equipment from seeing teachers use CDs, DVDs, overhead projectors, and so on, this chapter seemed more like a review for me. Meanwhile, the unit gave numerous suggestions for online resources. I will definitely look through these websites thoroughly so I will know how to navigate them well. This will certainly help as a teacher in the future.
