This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit focuses on lesson planning. Too much planning can have an opposite effect on the learners. Planning must be flexible and organized. When writing a lesson plan there needs to be a planning aid, a working document, and a record. Simple lesson plans have no scripts, a strong structure, lesson time frames, balanced content and flexibility. Organization is also key to successful lessons. Understanding your own goals and objectives translates well to the student's objective. The teacher also must be willing to monitor themselves and work on improvement. There are so many different items that a successful teacher must include in their lesson plan. For me the lesson plan samples put much into perspective. I learned how important it is to be able to move in and out of plans should improvising be necessary. Also the worksheets gave me some ideas for going over a full lesson with students. I learned variety and balance helps me and the students. The most important lesson I learned was with organization since this is something I struggle with.
