In this unit I learned that teachers must give a variety of tests to ESl students throughout their academic life.
Internal tests should be given by an ESL teacher throughout a students learning time, but external tests such as the TOEFL or IELTS test can also be taken by students for whatever purposes they need.
At the beginning stage of a course a teacher may choose to give students a diagnostic test, which should help the teacher to gauge a particular students level, and also a placement test which should help with the formation of evel appropriate groups.
Throughout an English course the teacher should give periodic progress tests which can help to show how an individual student is progressing through the specific materials,and then finally some form of pracice test which should give students an idea of what may be expected in external exams.
