This unit covers classroom management. It discusses how the teacher should relate to the students and gives pointers on teaching technique such as the use of eye contact, gesture and voice, seating arrangements, grouping students for different activities, the appropriate balance of teacher and student talking time, giving instructions, establishing rapport with the students, and classroom discipline. It was a very helpful summary. There wasn't so much new information in this unit for me, since I am a trained teacher, but I found it was a useful reminder, and has started me thinking about the differences between my own teaching experience as a high school maths teacher, and a language based subject.
