This unit covered the teaching of the two receptive skills: reading and listening. The main focus of the unit was that the materials used in lessons are very important to how well the students can understand, learn and respond to the tasks. The materials used must be at a suitable level for the students while being of interest to some students to gather their attention and motivation. Although not every student can be satisfied through a single lesson, a teacher can vary the materials and topics used so that every student is equally catered for.
This unit gave me a general idea of how to structure a receptive skills lesson and how I can incorporate parts of different activities presented in previous units into them.
