I feel that when teaching receptive skills the subject matter matters, but then I think about Unit 10. If the delivery is not there then it doesn't matter how interested the students might be in the subject, they won't be able to, or wouldn't be willing to, understand what is going on. As for the engage part of the example lessons, it made me think of my own experience learning french. Mme. Lynch had found a French series made with simple language she would show us after we had finished a chapter. The show was relevant vocabulary wise and we got to see what we had learnt used in a \"real life\" casual situations. Makes me wonder if I could find something similar for my future students learning English. I think it is especially important because they won't be in a immersive environment where most native learners learn their passive skills from.
