Despite being a language student for many years, I was totally unaware of all the different ways a language could be taught. I primarily learnt with worksheets and the occasional sing-along, although this varied for all of my teachers and, in turn, I didn't always pick the language up effectively. This unit has been enlightening and has provided many examples of fun ways to engage students in learning, which I hope to be able to incorporate into my own teaching one day. It reinforces the fact that every student is different: one may be absolutely fine with the 'straight arrow' method, whilst others may need more attention in the form of the 'patchwork' method.
