This unit covers three types of evaluation and testing: 1) tutorials; 2) evaluation by the students; and 3) tests. I have learned that while tutorials and student evaluations are beneficial, there may be time restraints and language barriers within these types of assessments. I have also learned that different types of tests have different goals: placement tests for determining students? language level, diagnostic tests to determine students? level of knowledge at the beginning of a course, progress tests to determine students? level of progression in a course, and practice tests, which assist students in learning exam structures and preparing them for external exams, which measure students? English proficiency for several different types of certifications, life skills, and business/career motivations.
