This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I learned how to deal with problems that can occur in class. Large classes can be difficult to manage, but the teacher can use methods such as choral drills to make it easier. I learned that the first class should be devoted to building rapport with the students, and determining their needs, interests and language levels. I learned that classes should start with a warmer (like Pictionary) so that the students are motivated to learn English. I learned how to cope with students that are at different levels in the same class, e.g pairing a strong student with a weaker student. I also learned that using tapes or CDs are important, and how problems in understanding the recording can be overcome.
