This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
From my studies of other languages, I've struggled with sounds that don't exist in English. I've found it helpful to learn what to physically do with my mouth, vocal chords, etc. to replicate them. It's necessary to demonstrate this to students through diagrams. This lesson has taught me to pay attention to my own speech to realize how a native speaker intonates or places emphasis on certain words. Being able to understand the rules behind this will allow me to more effectively teach students how to sound natural. This is important to many of them, as knowing they sound natural and like a native speaker will make them more comfortable in real life situations.
