In unit 6 methods of teaching new language is introduced, specifically vocabulary, grammar, and language functions. Common points to consider when teaching the the three includes appropriacy; meaning; usage; form and function; spelling (how it is written) and pronunciation (how it is spoken). The unit also includes some typical lessons in the ESA format as examples.
In this unit I learned the importance of appropriacy, and the importance of both the written and spoken forms. As a language-learner myself currently, I also agree with the statement of a learner's receptive vocabulary being much larger than productive vocabulary, meaning the learner usually understands more words than they can actively use.
