This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Lesson planning, especially at the beginning of our careers as teachers, can prove to be one of the most useful tools. It helps us organise our time, make sure we are ready with different activities, cater to the different abilities within the class and keep a record of what we have done, which can be used at a later date and, if need be, by another teacher who is covering for us. It can also be used as a review and reflect tool for ourselves as teachers to note on which areas of improvement we need to work and keep track of what we have done so far in that regard. We need to make sure we have activities for every phase of the lesson and that we have time for them all, always remembering to have extra activities in case we need them and that we can take some off if the lesson requires it, as flexibility is a key element when planning lessons.
