This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Unit 18 is about modals, phrasal verbs and passive voice. The first part details the modals, which are auxiliary verbs that add meaning to the main verb, such as can, could, may, etc. They are used to express different ideas, like obligation, possibility, permission, etc. The passive voice is explained in the second part. At the opposite of the active voice, the focus is on the object (for example, For Whom the Bell Tolls was written be Ernest Hemingway) in passive sentences. In the third part, relative clauses are defined. Basically, a relative clause is a sentence within a sentence. It is inserted by a pronoun, such as that, who, whose, etc. and it adds information to the main clause. Finally, the fourth part is about phrasal verbs. They are verbs with one or two particles (preposition or adverb) and, as there are many and some look alike, they are generally pretty difficult to learn. But as it says at the end of the chapter, we mustn?t be afraid of them!
