This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit I learned the different methods to managing a classroom of different sizes. Depending on the number of students, the teacher could effectively organize the classroom, and themselves, to benefit the overall learning environment. I also learned more about the strategies of pairing individuals in groups or pairs as well as the pros and cons for both. Some pros would include more student talk time along with getting to know their fellow students. The negatives could possibly hurt students with lower self-esteem or ones with confidence issues. Overall, creating good rapport with the students by using eye contact, gestures, getting to know the students on a personal level and other effective techniques all enhance the overall positive learning environment that is beneficial to both students and teachers.
