The unit talks about the importance of teaching all 4 of the skills of language and in this unit focused on the receptive skills of reading and listening. It talked about the skills we use when we are listening or reading of predicting, scanning, skimming, looking for details and deducing from a text or listening material. It talked a little about some of the potential problems students could encounter like new vocabulary and how you can overcome this by pre-teaching some vocabulary or other language elements that could trip them up. Then it discussed the material you can use, how to pick a topic and what kind of material you select and for which group. Lastly it gave some examples of lessons and materials that could be used.
