It is still difficult for me, even as a native English speaker, to fully understand the differences between each form of past and present tenses. It will obviously be extremely difficult for non-native English speakers to comprehend this material. Personally I believe that it would be easier to learn and memorize these rules by just hearing the usages within sentences and within normal conversation, then trying to understand the specific definitions of each tense form. However, I am confident that by the end of this course I will have all of the tools and knowledge I need to best teach these rules to my students.
