Introducing new vocabulary to my students occurs on a daily basis. We always start with basic vocabulary that's easy to remember such as colours and animals. We then teach them simple sentence structures which incorporate the vocabulary and play a game. I do focus on pronunciation at the start when I introduce them to the new vocabulary, but I don't overdo it like some teachers that I have observed teaching before.Unit dealt with teaching new language topics, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, and functions. It went over ESA (Engage Study Activate) techniques, including 'straight arrow,' 'boomerang' and 'patchwork'. Most importantly, it discussed which ESA techniques would be more beneficial to the students according to topic and gave technique example for each approach. The text greatly expanded on ESA and appropriateness.
