This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit I was reminded about tenses in detail. Four present tenses were taught, present simple, present continuous, present perfect and present perfect continuous. The affirmative, negative and question form of the tenses were covered with different examples of when to use each. I learned the common errors that students make with these tenses as well as the activities which can be used when teaching the topic. It is important to know how to teach different components of the English language to students as it can be frustrating to both the teacher and the student if the lesson is either to easy or to difficult. When looking at how to teach a new language, the appropriacy should be taken into consideration, i.e. how relevant is it to the student. This unit has definitely taught me how to approach teaching a new language.
