When faced with a first lesson, it is important to use activities instead of course book to achieve the following: establish rapport between the students, find out about the students, find out about the students' needs/aspirations with English, find out the English level of each individual class member. Here are a number of activities that we can use: questionnaire/survey, pass the ball game, and need analysis.Unit provided a good overview of teaching pronunciation and phonology however use of phonetic script could have been made easier, i found this difficult to understand. I am not sure if it was purely due to it being a bit ambiguous or the fact that I found it difficult not to overthink each sound. Examples given for intonation were clear as were the diagrams used later on in the unit for the production of sound.
