This unit covered conditional and reported speech. I had previously not known or understood the rules for reported speech, despite knowing if something sounded correct or not. As such, this chapter has been useful for enhancing my understanding of the concept. It also helped give me the terms for explaining conditional for, which I basically understood the rules for, but would not have been able to explain if asked.This unit was full of terminology and practical suggestions! I have never studied the different methods and techniques that have been used over time and in different contexts. It was very helpful to have detailed information about the ESA method - Engage, Study, and Activate. The guidance concerning corrections was also very welcome because this is an area that I have not been very clear about in my own teaching.
