This unit on teaching pronunciation and phonology is rather extensive and mind -blowing.I really enjoyed the section on phonemics. The symbols used are rather thought provoking. Learners need to be taught to pronounce correctly, which will assist in spelling correctly. The techniques outlined for teaching each aspect is innovative. The stressing of words in a sentence depends on the manner in which something is spoken. This unit starts by addressing the difficulties of teaching English tenses. Most countries/regions have 1 to 3 tenses. English has 12 tenses. This unit then goes into specific details about the 4 present tenses. I agree with the unit's early description of this not being easy to teach to foreign language learners. Even in my own head, I usually have to stop and separate perfect and continuous rules/forms in my head.
